Mixed Drink Recipes, Cocktails and Shooters!

Here at Barbax we are a growing reference guide. The drink recipes we have gathered reflect the past drinks of the month. Initially we have included basic drink recipes but we will continue to add more drinks as the “Drinks of the Month” grow. Mixed Drink Recipes 1-10

Tequila Twist (makes about 6 shots)

5 oz. tequila, 2 oz. orange juice concentrate (little more than a shot), 1 oz. sweet and sour mix, sugar, lime juice. Dip brim of chilled shot glasses into lime juice and then into sugar. Put shot glasses back in freezer. Fill shaker with ice and add tequila, OJ concentrate, sweet and sour mix, and a dash of lime juice. Shake vigorously for 30 seconds so concentrate has time to break up completely and then pour into shot glasses. Try using orange wedges or even strawberries to chase the shot with, enjoy!

Purple Turkey

Ok, this recipe was submitted to us by Dan but these have to be the worst tasting shots ever! The recipe makes two shots, as if one was not enough! If someone actually tries this recipe, please submit a review.

2 oz. Wild Turkey, 1 oz. Jagermiester. Throw booze into a shaker filled with ice, shake and pour into two chilled shot glasses. Enjoy!

Banana Margarita

1½ oz. crème de bananas, 1½ oz. gold tequila, 1 oz. triple sec, 1 oz. lemon juice, ⅓ banana. Coat rim of double rocks glass with lemon juice and dip in caster sugar. Blend ingredients and pour them into the glass filled with crushed ice. Dip a slice of banana in lemon juice as a garnish.

Fight or Flight

½ can Red Bull (or similar energy drink), 1½ oz 151 proof rum, ½ oz. Captain Morgan’s rum. Fill rocks glass with ice and pour in the liquor. Top off the glass with energy drink, stir and get ready to fight or fly!

Bloody Bull

1 oz. vodka, ½ glass tomato juice, ½ glass beef bullion, 1 slice lime, 1 lemon wedge. Pour vodka, tomato juice and beef bullion over ice and add lemon and lime.

The Ring Stinger (shooter)

½ oz. Absolute Peppar Vodka, ½ oz. Bacardi 151, ½ oz. Goldschlager, Tabasco sauce, 1 double rocks glass with an overturned shot glass covered in ice water in it (make ice slush consitancy). Add a dash of Tabasco sauce to a chilled shot glass. Layer Absolute Peppar Vodka, Golschlager and then Barcardi 151 on top. Carefully place the shot glass into the ice bath and let it rest on the overturned shot glass. Wait one minute and serve as is. Word of warning, make sure the ice bath will not overfill the shot glass on top.

The curdled tampon (Jeff you are one sick puppy)

1 ½ oz. of vodka (preferably good vodka), grenadine, straw, cream. Fold over one end of straw and rubber band it shut. Fill ¼ of the straw with crème and throw it in the freezer. Once frozen cut off end of the straw and squeeze into a shot glass 1/8 full with grenadine. Pour in vodka and enjoy your curdled tampon.

Gorilla Fart (shooter)

¾ oz. Wild Turkey, ¾ oz. Bacardi 151 proof rum. Pour both into a shot glass, take a whiff and shoot it down.

Scotch Cobbler

2 oz. premium scotch, 4 dashes brandy, 4 dashes Curacao (orange liqueur), 1 orange slice (make notches in orange slice for more stylish presentation), 1 mint sprig. Pour scotch, brandy, and Curacao over ice in an old-fashioned glass and top off with mint sprig.

Highland Mary

2 oz. premium scotch, 3 oz. tomato juice (fresh is best), ¼ teaspoon horseradish, Tabasco (also try garlic Tabasco), dash of salt (preferably kosher), ½ teaspoon Worcestershire sauce, sprig of rosemary. Put all ingredients, except rosemary, into a mixing glass filled with ice, shake for 20 seconds and strain into a tall glass filled near the top with ice. Garnish with slightly bruised rosemary sprig and enjoy!

Mixed Drink Recipes 11-20

Copa Verde

4 oz. 100 percent agave blanco tequila, ½ ripe avocado, 1½ oz. fresh lemon juice, 2½ oz. agave syrup (or simple syrup), 2 oz. water. Using a hand immersion blender, puree the avocado, agave syrup, water and lemon juice. Add the tequila and stir with ice cubes to chill. Strain into four port-style glasses, or serve as shooters. Yields four 2 oz. shots

Guavosa a.k.a. the Jordy special!

The guavosa is a very simple drink to make. Depending on how large of a guavosa you want to make you can tailor the recipe to your needs. 4 oz. champagne, 1 oz. guava juice. Simply add champagne to a champagne flute and top off with guava juice. Stir and enjoy!

Bowers Blaster

½ oz. vodka, ½ oz. gin, ½ oz. tequila, ½ oz. light rum, ½ oz triple sec, ½ oz. orange juice, Collins mix, orange garnish (round), ⅓ lemon. Put an orange round on the bottom of a double rocks glass, squeeze lemon over it and cover with crushed ice. Pour all liquor and orange juice into a mixing glass with ice, shake and strain into the double rocks glass. Top off with Collins mix and garnish!

Darth Vader

½ oz. vodka, ½ oz. gin, ½ oz. tequila, ½ oz. light rum, ½ oz triple sec, ½ oz. Jagermiester. Pour everything into a mixing glass filled with ice, shake and strain into a rocks glass with ice.

Sink or Swim

1½ oz. brandy, ½ oz. sweet vermouth, 2-4 dashes Angostura bitters. Pour everything into a mixing glass with ice, shake and strain into a rocks glass with ice

Silver Nipple

1½ oz. sambuca, 1 oz. vodka. Pour both into a rocks glass with ice and stir.

French Connection

2 oz. brandy, 1 oz amaretto. Fill up rocks glass with ice, add brandy and amaretto, stir and enjoy!

Gin Sour

1 oz. gin, 3 oz. sour mix. Fill mixing glass with ice, add gin and sour mix, shake, strain into a sour glass and garnish with an orange slice and a cherry.

Long Island Ice Tea

½ oz. vodka, ½ oz. gin, ½ oz. rum, ½ oz. triple sec, ½ oz. tequila, 1 oz. sour mix,

Pour liquor into glass of ice and shake, then pour into a collins glass. Add more ice and top off with cola if needed.

White Russian (for all you Jeff Bridges fans out there)

1½ oz. vodka, 1½ oz. Kahlua, cream. Fill glass with ice, pour in liquors, and then float cream on top

Mixed Drink Recipes 21-30

Whiskey Sour

1 oz. whiskey, 2 oz sour mix. Pour liquor into glass of ice, shake and strain into a sour glass.

Snow Shoe

1½ oz. 101 proof Wild Turkey bourbon, ½ oz. peppermint schnapps. Fill rocks glass with ice, add liquors and stir.

S.O.B. Shooter

⅓ oz. Cointreau, ⅓ oz. brandy, ⅓ oz. 151 proof rum. Pour all into a shot glass

Wagon Wheel

1 ½ oz. cognac, 2 ½ oz. Southern Comfort, 1 oz. lemon juice, ½ oz. grenadine. Pour everything into a mixing glass filled with ice, shake and strain into a rocks glass filled with ice.

Zoom

1 ½ oz. brandy, ¼ oz. honey, ½ oz. cream. Pour everything into a mixing glass filled with ice, shake well and then strain into a chilled cocktail glass.

Colorado Bulldog

1¾ oz. vodka, 1 oz. Kahlua, 3½ oz. Pepsi. Fill highball glass with ice, add vodka, add Kahlua, add any type of cola and stir.

Mai Tai

1 oz. light rum, ½ oz. orgeat syrup, ½ oz. triple sec, 1½ oz sour mix. Pour into glass of ice, shake and then strain into a Collins glass with ice.

Sex on the beach

(Original) 1 oz. vodka, ½ oz. Midori melon liqueur, ½ oz. Chambord (any raspberry liqueur will work), 1½ oz. pineapple juice, 1½ cranberry juice. Pour into a glass of ice, shake and then pour into a highball glass.

¾ oz. peach schnapps, ¾ oz. vodka, 3 oz. pineapple juice, 3 oz. cranberry juice. Fill high ball glass with ice, add liquor and then fill with juice and stir.

California Ice Tea

½ oz. vodka, ½ oz. gin, ½ oz. light rum, ½ oz. triple sec, ½ oz. white tequila, ½ oz. sour mix, 1 oz. orange juice, 1 oz. pineapple juice. Pour everything into a mixing glass with ice, shake, strain into a Collins glass, add ice and garnish with lemon.

Mixed Drink Recipes 31-40

California Lemonade

½ oz. vodka, ½ oz. gin, ½ oz. brandy, 2 oz. sour mix, 2 oz. orange juice, ¼ oz. grenadine. Pour everything into a mixing glass with ice, shake, strain into a Collins glass and add ice.

Climax

½ oz. vodka, ½ oz. triple sec, ½ oz. white crème de cacao, ½ oz. amaretto, ½ oz. banana liqueur, 1 oz. cream. Pour everything into a mixing glass with ice, shake and then strain into a chilled cocktail glass.

Will Rogers

1½ oz. gin, ½ oz. dry vermouth, dash of triple sec, dash of orange juice. Pour all into a glass with ice, shake and then strain into a chilled cocktail glass.

Zombie

1 oz. light rum, ½ oz. crème de noyaux, ½ oz. triple sec, 1½ oz. sour mix, 1½ oz. orange juice, ½ oz. 151-proof rum. Pour light rum, crème de noyaux, triple sec, sour mix, orange juice into a glass of ice. Strain into a Collins glass filled with ice and top it off with 151-proof rum.

Tequila Sunrise

1½ oz. tequila, couple if dashes of lime juice if you like, orange juice, ½ oz. grenadine. Fill high ball glass with ice, add tequila and lime juice then fill with orange juice and stir. Pour grenadine down a spoon and let it rise from the bottom (do not stir).

Dorado

2 oz. tequila, 1½ oz. lemon juice, 1 tbs. honey. Pour everything into a mixing glass filled with ice, shake and strain into a highball glass.

Down the Hatch

2 oz. whiskey, 3 dashes blackberry brandy, 2 dashes orange bitters. Pour everything into a mixing glass filled with ice, shake and strain into a cocktail glass

Ninja Turtle

1 ½ oz. Tanqueray gin, 1 ½ oz. blue curacao, orange juice. Fill high ball glass with ice, add liquor and fill with orange juice and stir.

Mojito

5 oz. Light rum, 12 spearmint leaves, ¾ lime, 2 tbsp. simple syrup, soda water. Muddle mint leaves and lime in a mixing glass filled with ice and a dash of soda water, cover with simple syrup and allow to dissolve, add light rum, shake, strain into a Collins glass with ice, top off with soda water and garnish with a sprig of mint leaf.

Tokyo Tea

½ oz vodka, ½ oz. rum, ½ oz. gin, ½ oz, tequila, ½ oz. triple sec, 1 oz. Midori melon liqueur. Pour everything into a mixing glass with ice, shake and strain into a rocks glass (lowball or old fashion) filled with ice.

Mixed Drink Recipes 41-50

Poop Deck

1 oz. blackberry brandy, ½ oz. port, ½ oz. brandy. Pour liquor into mixing glass with ice, shake and strain into a chilled cocktail glass.

Royal Screw

2 oz. cognac, 2 oz. orange juice, chilled champagne. Pour cognac then orange juice into champagne glass, stir gently and then fill with champagne.

Between the Sheets

¾ brandy oz., ¾ oz. triple sec, ¾ oz. light rum, sour mix. Pour everything into a mixing glass with ice, shake and strain into a rocks glass filled with ice.

357 Magnum

1 oz. Smirnoff vodka (or better), 1 oz. Captain Morgans Rum (or 151), 1½ oz. Amaretto, 7-up. In a collins glass, pour vodka and rum over ice, add 7-up and stir. Then add amaretto with out stirring and serve.

Go-Go Juice

½ oz. vodka, ½ oz. gin, ½ oz. light rum, ½ oz.blue curacao, ½ oz. white tequila, ½ oz. orange juice, 1 oz. sour mix, 7-up. Pour everything except for 7-up into mixing glass with ice and shake, strain into a collins glass, add ice and top off with 7-up. Garnish with a lemon slice.

Ground Zero

¾ oz. peppermint schnapps, ¾ oz. bourbon, ¾ oz. vodka, ½ oz. Kalua. Pour everything into a mixing glass with ice, shake and strain into a sour glass and add ice.

Hot Pants (for Chris)

¾ oz. peppermint schnapps, 1 ½ oz. tequila, dash of grapefruit juice, ½ tsp. grenadine. Pour everything into a mixing glass filled with ice, shake and strain into a rocks glass.

Tom Collins

1 oz. gin, 2 oz. sour mix or fresh lemon juice, club soda. Fill Collins glass with ice, add gin and sour mix, stir, top off with club soda and garnish with a cherry or lemon slice.

White Spider

2 oz. vodka, 1 oz. white crème de menthe. Pour everything into a mixing glass filled with ice, shake and then strain into a chilled cocktail glass.

Woo Woo

¾ oz. vodka, ¾ oz peach schnapps, 3 oz. cranberry juice. Pour everything into a highball glass filled with ice and stir. You can also make shooters out of this, just pour into shot glasses.

Mixed Drink Recipes 51-60

After Five (shooter)

⅓ oz. Kalua, ⅓ oz. peppermint schnapps, ⅓ oz. Bailey’s (Original Irish Cream). Layer peppermint schnapps, Bailey’s and Kalua in a stemmed shot glass.

Peppermint Stinger

1½ oz. brandy, 1 oz peppermint schnapps. Fill blender with 3-5 oz of cracked ice, add liquor, blend until smooth (5 seconds) and pour into a rocks glass.

Submitted Drink Recipes

TOOTHLESS REDNECK (makes 3 shots)

1 shot of Jack Daniels
1 shot of Jim Bean
1 shot of Southern Comfort
GOOD LUCK

The 007 License to Drink:

Take 1/2 ounce of Gose Cuervo Classico, 1/2 Ounce of Bounty Imported Rum, and 1/2 ounce of Amarulla. Then mix with 1 tablespoon of Suisse Mocha Mix. I use General Foods Suisse Mocha mix, because it has no caffeine and its sugar free but use any type you want.

Then mix in another 1/2 tablespoon of Suisse Mocha into the drink and there you have it. Your License to Drink, just be careful how you use it. Also there maybe a thin layer of Suisse Mocha on top around the rim, don’t worry this is supposed to happen. The size of the layer tells you how well you mixed the mocha in, so make sure it’s as thin as possible.

Just a good shaking by hand should give you enough of a shake for it to be ready and make sure you mix it using either a martini shaker or directly in the glass by hand, using a blender will mix it too much and get rid of the taste of the mocha. Enjoy, also another word of warning, it is strong when you first finish drinking and might be too strong after settling as well for some so be careful when you first drink it.
