Legacy Brewing Co. and Hedonism
The legacy brewing company is making a name for itself by pushing social taboos. For those of you who do not know what Hedonism is: Hedonism (Greek: hēdonē "pleasure" + –ism) describes any way of thinking that gives pleasure a central role. Hedonism can be generally summed up as "Pleasure is the highest good", or in an ethical formulation, "whatever causes pleasure is right. (Wikipedia)" When shop owners received their first shipments of Hedonism Beer, some were very surprised.
“I sent it back because of the graphics,” Stated Engleside owner Bob Dano. “My wife thought it was obscene and so did I.”
Beer ink owner Apal Shah mentioned “It’s not proper for my store,” … “We have lots of small kids coming in here with their parents. I don’t want them seeing those pictures.”
One retailer of the beer actually covered the Hedonism packaging with brown paper bags. The pictures on the Hedonism beer packaging are cartoons, but they do depict some graphic content. Personally most of us at Barbax think this is more of a publicity stunt than it is offensive. Legacy brewing company was smart to challenge the social norms and have people react to their product. Some say “any news is good news.” In this case Hedonism beer has grabbed its fair share of media and attention.
Do you think Hedonism’s outer packaging graphics are too bold? Have they crossed a line of the social norm? Or do you think that this is all hype and people are over reacting? Let us know! Submit your opinion in the vote box. Vote

Cheers from all of us here at Barbax!
